OLIGHT Baldr Pro R Tactical Light / Green Laser, 1,350 Lumens, Rechargeable

The Olight Baldr Pro R is a rechargeable pistol light with green laser for handguns with a Glock or Picatinny rail. According to Olight, the white LED delivers up to 1,350 lumens at 200 m beam distance and 10,000 cd; the laser (510–530 nm, max. 5 mW, Class 3R to IEC 60825-1) is switched in via a selector ring on the head. The built-in battery with 3.6 V / 1,000 mAh charges via the magnetic MCC-1A cable in around 1.5 hours. This version is black; the same model is also available in Desert Tan.

What the Baldr Pro R is built for

At 95 × 36.6 × 34.1 mm and 126 g including battery, the Baldr Pro R is the larger light-laser module in the Baldr range for compact to full-size pistols; according to Olight, it can also be used on long guns via an optional cable switch. The body is made of an aluminium alloy; IPX4 stands for splash protection, not for submersion. Olight states 1 m impact resistance and a mount tested for high recoil.

White light, laser and selector ring

The ring on the head has three positions: white light only, white light plus laser, or laser only. In the white-light positions, a double-click on either of the two rear switches toggles between High and Low; the last-used level is memorised. Pressing both switches at the same time starts the strobe at 13 Hz with 1,350 lumens.

The 1,350 lumens are a burst: according to Olight, the LED holds them for 1.5 minutes, then steps down to 500 lumens and after 38 to 40 minutes to 300 lumens. Maximum brightness also depends on the state of charge – at around 50 % remaining capacity only 500 lumens are available, at very low voltage only Low with 300 lumens. For longer illumination, Low with 85 minutes (laser on) or 93 minutes (laser off) is the level you can plan around. The laser sits in the head unit; in laser-only mode, Olight states up to 19 hours.

Battery, magnetic charging and indicators

The battery is not replaceable, but in return there is no battery compartment: the MCC-1A cable attaches magnetically to the charging port on the underside. The cable LED lights red while charging and green when fully charged; on the body, an indicator warns red below 10 % remaining capacity. The same port accepts the optional RPL-7 cable switch. The light is locked as delivered from the factory; in lockout mode, a button press only gives a weak white light of around 100 lumens.

Baldr Pro R or Baldr Mini?

The Olight Baldr Mini also uses a green laser with 510–530 nm, but at 57 mm and 87 g is considerably smaller and comes with 600 lumens, 130 m and a 230 mAh battery for compact and subcompact pistols. The Baldr Pro R offers more than double the output, two brightness levels, strobe and the remote switch port – for around 40 g of extra weight. Red instead of green is available in the Baldr RL Mini, the same technology in sand colour as the Baldr Pro R in Desert Tan.

Mounting and legal notice

The Glock adapter marked “GL” is fitted from the factory; for Picatinny rails to MIL-STD-1913, you swap it for the 1913 adapter using the supplied screws. Then open the swing arm, align the adapter in the rail notch, close the arm and zero the laser via the two adjustment screws. You only need tools for changing the adapter and for adjustment. Olight points out never to aim the laser or white light at eyes, vehicles or aircraft. Before buying and using, observe the firearms regulations of your country.

Frequently asked questions about the Olight Baldr Pro R

Why does the Baldr Pro R not respond to the switch after unpacking?

Olight ships the light in lockout mode. Hold both rear switches for about 2 seconds until the white light or laser comes on. Later, locking is only possible when switched off.

How long does the Baldr Pro R actually shine at 1,350 lumens?

According to Olight, 1.5 minutes from a full battery; this is followed by 500 lumens for 38 to 40 minutes and finally 300 lumens. With a half-charged battery, High starts directly at 500 lumens.

How long does charging take, and how do I recognise the state of charge?

About 1.5 hours via the MCC-1A cable. The indicator light on the cable changes from red to green; during use, the body indicator warns red below 10 % remaining capacity.

Can I adjust the green laser myself?

Yes. Two adjustment holes are provided for elevation and windage; with the supplied H1.5 Allen key you turn the screws until the laser dot and point of impact coincide. Two adjustment screws are included as spares.

Is a cable remote switch included, and where is it connected?

No. Olight offers the magnetic RPL-7 remote switch separately; it connects to the magnetic port that is also used for charging.

What distinguishes the Baldr Pro R from the Baldr Pro without the “R”?

The Baldr Pro uses two CR123A batteries, a neutral white LED with 260 m and 16,900 cd, is 84 mm long and weighs 129 g. The Pro R has the built-in 1,000 mAh battery, a cool white LED with 200 m and 10,000 cd, the selector ring on the head and the remote switch port. Both deliver 1,350 lumens.
