Olight Baldr Mini Tactical Light Powerful Green Laser

The Olight Baldr Mini combines a 600-lumen white LED and a green laser (510–530 nm, max. 5 mW, Class 3R according to IEC 60825-1) in a module just 57 mm long and 87 g light for pistols with a Glock or Picatinny rail. Olight specifies a 130 m beam distance and 4,225 cd; the built-in 3.7 V / 230 mAh battery charges via a special magnetic MCC cable in no more than one hour. It is intended for compact and subcompact pistols, on which a full-size module would protrude beyond the muzzle.

Positioning: the smallest of the Baldr range

Olight describes the Baldr Mini as considerably smaller than the Baldr Pro and as a combination of the sliding rail mount of the PL-Mini 2 with a green laser. The aluminium alloy body (Olight blog: AL6061-T6, hard-anodised) meets IPX4 and is impact resistant up to 1 m; according to Olight, its size is roughly that of a car key or Zippo lighter.

Green laser with three switch positions

The slide switch has three positions: left for green laser only, centre for laser plus white light, right for white light only. The two rear switches are ambidextrous and only trigger with downward pressure; one click switches constant-on, holding gives momentary light. There is no strobe, SOS or dimmed level. According to Olight, the 600 lumens are available for one minute, after which the output drops to 100 lumens within two minutes to protect the small body from overheating.

The green laser at 510–530 nm is much more visible to the eye than a red laser of the same power, but needs more energy: on its own it runs for up to 2.5 hours according to Olight. Adjustment is via two set screws on the side; a spare set with cone and oval points is included.

Charging via the special MCC port

The 230 mAh battery is built in and is charged via the magnetic port on the underside – according to Olight, exclusively with the supplied special MCC cable; other MCC cables are not compatible. From a USB source with 5 V / 0.35 A, the battery is full in no more than one hour. The cable LED shows red while charging and green when fully charged; an indicator on the body warns in red below 10% remaining capacity. With the laser, the white light lasts 1 + 29 minutes, without the laser 1 + 39 minutes.

Rail, adapters and positioning

The Glock adapter “GL” is fitted at the factory; a Picatinny adapter according to MIL-STD-1913 is included and is swapped in using the supplied screws. The swing arm is flipped up, the module is slid forwards or backwards on the rail mount and locked by flipping the arm down. You only need tools for changing the adapter and adjusting the laser.

Baldr Mini or Baldr RL Mini?

The Olight Baldr RL Mini is structurally identical but carries a red laser at 640–660 nm – less conspicuous in daylight, but more economical: 1 + 37 instead of 1 + 29 minutes of white light with the laser and 11 instead of 2.5 hours in laser-only operation, at 91 g. If you are looking for a full-size module with 1,350 lumens, two brightness levels and strobe, you will find it in the Baldr Pro R at 95 mm in length and 126 g.

Mounting and legal notice

Flip up the swing arm, slide the module into position, align the Glock adapter – or the previously fitted Picatinny adapter – in the rail slot and flip the arm down to lock; then zero the laser. Olight recommends the “laser only” switch position for transport and storage and warns against pointing the laser or white light at eyes, vehicles or aircraft. Before buying and using, observe the firearms regulations of your country.

600 lumens – Olight states this consistently in the user manual, on the product page and in the regional Olight shops.

How long does the green laser run on its own?

According to Olight, up to 2.5 hours with a full battery. Combined with white light, the LED determines the runtime: 1 minute at 600 lumens plus 29 minutes at 100 lumens.

Is there a strobe or a dimmed level?

No. Olight lists neither strobe nor SOS; there is one white-light level, which automatically steps down from 600 to 100 lumens after one minute.

How long does a full charge take, and which cable do I need?

No more than one hour from a USB source with at least 5 V / 0.35 A. Only the supplied special MCC cable works; according to Olight, other Olight MCC cables are not compatible.

Does the Baldr Mini fit my pistol?

According to Olight, it fits most Glock and Picatinny rails (MIL-STD-1913). The compatibility list on the Olight product page includes, among others, Glock 17/19/45 with rail, SIG Sauer P320, Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0, Beretta 92X and Walther PDP.

What should I bear in mind when adjusting the laser?

The two adjustment screws on the side are turned with the supplied H1.5 hex key; according to the Olight blog, the rear screw adjusts windage and the front one elevation. In the spare set, the cone point is for elevation and the oval point for windage.
