Olight Warrior 3S – Dual-Switch Torch, 2,300 Lumens

The Olight Warrior 3S is a tactical torch with two switches: a side switch for everyday use and a two-stage tail switch for instant access to Medium, Turbo or Strobe. According to Olight, 2,300 lumens and 23,000 candela carry the focused beam 300 m, a 5,000 mAh battery in 21700 format lasts up to 55 days in Moonlight mode, and a proximity sensor protects against overheating if the torch starts up while covered – for hunters, security services and anyone who wants to operate a torch blind.

Two switches, two configurations

The side switch turns on and off with a single click and starts in the last-used level; holding cycles through Low, Medium and High, a long press starts Moonlight, a double click Turbo, a triple click Strobe. Four segments around the switch show the level and charge status; below 10 % the bottom one lights up red. The tail switch has two pressure points: in configuration 1 (factory setting) a half press gives Medium, a full press Turbo, a short press switches on constantly, holding gives momentary light. Configuration 2 assigns Turbo to the half press and Strobe to the full press, and the torch goes out when released. Configuration 1 suits tracking wounded game: a light press gives 200 lumens at close range, a full press 2,300 lumens into the thicket.

Light output and proximity sensor

2,300 lumens are available for 2.5 minutes, after which the torch steps down to 800 lumens (160 minutes) and 250 lumens (39 minutes). The TIR lens focuses more tightly than floodlight torches of similar lumen output: 300 m in Turbo, 180 m in High, 90 m in Medium, 25 m in Low. Medium with 200 lumens thus covers the close range at the high seat; for a look across the meadow you switch to High or Turbo.

According to the product page, the proximity sensor behind the front lens monitors High, Turbo and Strobe (the manual states level 3 and higher, i.e. from Medium). If it detects an obstacle close in front of the torch – such as the fabric of a trouser pocket – it dims automatically; if the lens remains covered for longer than a minute, the torch switches off. If you deliberately want to shine at close range, a double click on the side switch within 5 seconds of the dimming deactivates the sensor until the next time the torch is switched off.

Battery, charging, carrying

The customised 21700 battery with 5,000 mAh sits behind the screw-off tail cap and is charged in the torch: the supplied MCC3 cable docks magnetically, and a full charge takes about 5.5 hours according to Olight (5 V/2 A); older MCC cables are not compatible. Moonlight, Low, Medium and High are memorised – High only for one minute, after which the torch starts in Medium; Turbo and Strobe never. According to Olight, 139 mm, 29.5 mm and 176 g fit in a jeans pocket, the two-way pocket clip allows carrying head up or head down, and the rounded front bezel does not snag; a nylon holster is included for the belt. The aluminium housing is waterproof to IPX8 and designed for drops from 1.5 m; according to Olight, the tail cap also works with an optional magnetic remote switch.

Warrior 3S or Warrior Mini 3?

The Olight Warrior Mini 3 takes over the side switch, tail cap and proximity sensor, but at 111 mm, 23 mm and 122 g it is considerably smaller and runs on an 18650 battery (3,500 mAh) – with 1,750 lumens, 14,400 candela and 240 m. The Warrior 3S offers 60 m more range, around 60 % more beam intensity, the larger battery, a holster and, at 29.5 mm, sits more solidly in the hand, which counts when wearing gloves. As a second torch the Mini 3 is enough; if the torch is your main light in the high seat or on duty, take the 3S. Floodlight without a tactical tail cap is offered by the Olight Seeker 4 Pro.

Frequently asked questions about the Warrior 3S

What is new compared with the Warrior 3?

According to Olight, the light data are identical: 2,300 lumens, 300 m, 23,000 candela, 176 g, 139 mm, same battery and MCC3 charging. The 3S adds the proximity sensor, has a rounded front bezel and comes with a nylon holster.

How do I assign Strobe to the tail cap?

Switch to configuration 2: press the tail cap fully and hold it, and while doing so press the side switch once; on release it is active. After that, a half press gives Turbo and a full press Strobe for as long as you press. The same procedure switches back.

The torch dims down although there is nothing in front of the lens – why?

The sensor reacts to reflections; Olight names water, dirt or scratches on the front lens as the cause – clean the lens and keep it free of scratches. If you still need full output, a double click within 5 seconds of the dimming deactivates the sensor.

Can I use a different magnetic cable or an external charger?

No. Olight states that the Warrior 3S should only be charged with the MCC3 cable and that older MCC cables are not compatible; the battery is charged only in the torch.

Can the battery be replaced?

Yes: unscrew the tail cap and insert the battery with the positive terminal towards the torch head. Olight specifies the customised 3.6 V 21700 battery with 5,000 mAh and warns against unprotected cells. Remove the insulating film before first use.

How do I lock the torch for transport?

With the torch switched off, hold the side switch for about 2 seconds – the torch flashes briefly in Moonlight and goes out. When locked, no switch responds and the indicator lights up red for two seconds. To unlock: hold the side switch for more than one second until Moonlight lights up.
