The Olight Odin GL Mini packs white light and a green laser into 128 mm of length and 190 g – designed for long guns with a Picatinny rail where space on the handguard is limited. The neutral white LED delivers up to 1,000 lumens with 180 m beam distance; the green beam (Olight: “GL Beam”) serves for target marking. 18500 battery (2,040 mAh), MCC3 magnetic charging, Picatinny mount and two-button sROD-7 remote switch are included.

Compact build for short handguards

With a 29 mm head and 26.6 mm body diameter, the GL Mini has the same cross-section as the large Odin GL, but is 21 mm shorter and around 35 g lighter. The body is made of aluminium alloy; Olight specifies IPX4 (splash protection) and 1.5 m impact resistance. According to Olight, the Picatinny mount occupies two rail slots and has a locking knob; this leaves room for further accessories on short handguards.

White light and green beam in detail

The selector ring on the head has three positions: white light, white light plus laser, laser only. According to Olight, the laser has a wavelength of 510–530 nm and a maximum of 5 mW (“GL Beam Emitter <5mW”), laser Class 3R/IIIa to IEC 60825-1; Olight describes it as clearly visible even in daylight. In laser-only mode, the battery lasts up to 33 hours according to the manual.

The white light has a beam intensity of 8,100 cd, which under ANSI FL1 corresponds to the 180 m beam distance (0.25 lux residual illumination). The Low level with 200 lumens and 1,800 cd reaches 85 m. The tail-cap switch works in two stages: press lightly for Low, press firmly for High, click for constant-on, hold for momentary light.

18500 battery: charging and runtime

The Olight proprietary 18500 battery (2,040 mAh, 3.6 V) sits behind the tail cap and is replaceable. Charging is via the magnetic MCC3 cable directly at the tail cap, at a maximum of 1.5 A in around 3 hours (guide value); Olight recommends a USB source with at least 10 W. According to the manual, the full 1,000 lumens are available for 2.5 minutes at 25 °C, after which the light steps down to 500 lumens within one minute – this produces the figure “3.5 + 67 + 13 min”; with the laser it is 3.5 + 61 + 12 min. Below 20 % remaining capacity the light vibrates every five minutes, below 10 % every minute, below 5 % every ten seconds.

Picatinny mounting and remote switch

The mount is first tightened onto the rail with its screws. Then you slide the light into the mount until it clicks audibly into place, turn the knob 90° clockwise and tighten the two clamping screws with the H1.5 Allen key. To remove: loosen the clamping screws, turn the knob back, press, take out the light. The magnetic sROD-7 remote switch attaches to the tail cap, is secured with the locking ring and switches the high or low level directly with two buttons (HI/LO), each as constant-on or momentary light; a mount for the switch is included.

Odin GL Mini or Odin Mini?

The Olight Odin Mini is slightly smaller still at 115.5 mm and 176 g, does without the laser and instead delivers 1,250 lumens with 240 m beam distance at IPX8 – however, it comes with an M-LOK mount and needs the Pic Rail Adapter for Picatinny. The GL Mini is the choice if you want laser and Picatinny in one compact unit. More power and endurance are offered by the large Olight Odin GL with 1,500 lumens, 215 m and 5,000 mAh battery (Low 6 h 30 min instead of 3 h 35 min), available in the shop as the M-LOK version.

Mounting and legal notice

According to Olight, the Odin GL Mini belongs only on Picatinny rails with the supplied mount; on M-LOK the GL beam cannot be aligned correctly. Before buying and using, observe the firearms regulations of your country.

Frequently asked questions about the Olight Odin GL Mini

Do I also need the Pic Rail Adapter?

No, the Picatinny mount is included. Olight lists the GL Mini as compatible with the adapter – useful as a replacement or for a second firearm.

Can I mount the GL Mini on an M-LOK rail?

Olight expressly advises against it: on M-LOK the laser cannot be aligned properly. For M-LOK, Olight offers the Odin GL M.

How long does full brightness last?

At 25 °C, according to the manual, 2.5 minutes at 1,000 lumens, then a step-down within one minute to 500 lumens for just over an hour, finally 200 lumens.

Which charging source should I use?

A USB power adapter with at least 10 W (5 V/2 A); the light draws a maximum of 1.5 A and is full in around 3 hours. According to Olight, only the MCC3 cable is compatible.

Which batteries fit?

According to the manual, only the Olight proprietary 18500 battery with 2,040 mAh, inserted with the positive terminal towards the head. Unprotected batteries must not be used.

How do I recognise a low battery level?

Via the vibration indicator (below 20 %, 10 % and 5 %). When charging, the cable shows red, green from 95 %.
