OLIGHT ODIN Mini Light / Lamp, 1,250 Lumens for M-LOK

The Olight Odin Mini is the smallest white light in the Odin series: 115.5 mm long, 176 g with battery and still 1,250 lumens with 240 m beam distance. It is designed as a pure weapon light without laser and comes from the factory with a detachable M-LOK mount, magnetic remote switch and 18500 battery. For Picatinny rails, Olight offers an optional adapter. It suits hunters and sport shooters who want a lightweight, long-reaching light on an M-LOK handguard.

The smallest Odin with the tightest beam

At 14,400 cd, the Odin Mini focuses its light more tightly than the larger laser combos Odin GL (11,556 cd) and Odin GL Mini (8,100 cd). Under ANSI FL1 this gives the beam distance of 240 m – the distance at which 0.25 lux still arrives, roughly full-moon brightness. The beam is therefore designed for distance, less for wide illumination at close range. The aluminium alloy body is waterproof to IPX8 and impact resistant to 1.5 m – the only Odin in the shop with IPX8; the laser models are only splash-proof at IPX4.

Light and operation

The neutral white high-performance LED works in two levels. The tail-cap switch – made of stainless steel and silent according to Olight – responds to pressure: pressed lightly it gives 200 lumens (Low), pressed firmly 1,250 lumens (High); a click switches on constantly, holding gives momentary light. The magnetic remote switch attaches to the tail cap and is locked by pushing the locking ring forward (Olight: “push-to-lock”). According to the Olight FAQ, it only switches the High level on and off; Low remains reserved for the tail-cap switch. The RM3R mount is included for the remote switch, which according to Olight is designed for Picatinny rails and requires around nine slots.

Battery and charging

The Olight proprietary 18500 battery with 2,040 mAh and 3.6 V is included and replaceable; other formats such as 18650 do not fit according to Olight. Charging is via the magnetic MCC3 cable at the tail cap, at a maximum of 1.5 A in around 3 hours (guide value); Olight recommends a USB source with more than 7.5 W. The High level steps down: 1,250 lumens for 6 minutes, 900 lumens for 11 minutes, 700 lumens for 39 minutes, then 200 lumens for 14 minutes – 70 minutes in total. Low runs for 5 hours. Olight points out that brightness decreases as battery voltage drops. A vibration alert reports below 20 % every five minutes, below 10 % every minute, below 5 % every ten seconds.

M-LOK from the factory, Picatinny via adapter

The M-LOK mount is fastened to the handguard with two nuts and screws (H3.0). The light slides into the mount’s slide rail, clicks into place and is locked with the rotary knob turned through 90°; to remove, turn back and press the knob. According to Olight, the Odin Mini fits into the mount forwards or backwards, so the M-LOK attachment can sit on the left or right. According to Olight, the quick-release mounts of the Odin and Odin Mini are interchangeable; for Picatinny rails there is the Pic Rail Adapter, and Olight names KeyMod mounts as a third-party option.

Odin Mini or Odin GL Mini?

The Olight Odin GL Mini is practically the same size (128 mm, 190 g), adds a green laser and comes from the factory with a Picatinny mount – in return 1,000 instead of 1,250 lumens, 180 instead of 240 m and IPX4 instead of IPX8. The Odin Mini is the choice for pure, long-reaching light on M-LOK handguards; you switch to Picatinny with the Pic Rail Adapter for the Odin series. If you want a laser and more endurance, go for the large Olight Odin GL with 21700 battery (5,000 mAh) and 1,500 lumens.

Frequently asked questions about the Olight Odin Mini

Does the Odin Mini fit on a Picatinny rail?

Not from the factory – the mount is M-LOK. Olight names the Pic Rail Adapter as the Picatinny option; the light is slid in and locked in it in the same way.

Can the remote switch also operate the Low level?

No. According to the Olight FAQ, the remote switch only activates High or switches off. For 200 lumens, you use the tail-cap switch with a light press.

Why does the brightness drop after six minutes?

Olight steps down in stages: 1,250 lm for 6 min, 900 lm for 11 min, 700 lm for 39 min, then 200 lm. This limits heat in the compact body.

How waterproof is the Odin Mini?

IPX8, i.e. protected against continuous submersion – according to the manual, however, the tail-cap switch may fail in salt water or other conductive media.

Can I use an 18650 battery?

No. Olight only approves its own 18500 battery with 2,040 mAh; it is inserted with the positive terminal towards the head.

How do I attach the remote switch to an M-LOK handguard?

According to Olight, the RM3R mount is for Picatinny rails (around nine slots). Without a Picatinny section, that leaves the two cable ties from the scope of delivery.
